3 Easy Tech Tricks for Beginners to Edit and Improve Business Photos

Although hiring a professional photographer is generally the best option if you want impressive business photos – it may not always be feasible. Small businesses and startups often don’t have the budget to hire a professional, which is probably why you’re in the unenviable position of having to snap and edit business photos yourself.

The good news is that although you may not have much experience with photography, there are some easy ways that you can start to edit and improve your business photos.

Crop Using the Rule of Thirds

The crop tool is one of the easiest editing tools available, and will essentially remove a section of the photo’s frame. In other words you can use it to adjust your business photos, and alter the way the composition is framed.

Ideally you should crop your business photos using the rule of thirds as a guide. The idea is to position the subject and elements based on the gridlines and intersection points of a 3×3 grid – which some editors will helpfully overlay on your photo as part of the crop feature.

All in all this is a simple way to edit your business photos and improve their composition so that it has a greater visual impact and appears more balanced.

Correct the White Balance

One of the most common issues with the photos that beginners snap is that the white balance is off – causing the colors to have a different hue and muted appearance. By correcting the white balance you can make your business photos look more vibrant with vivid colors.

The majority of editors have automated features that can be used to correct the white balance with a single click. That is a good starting point, and if you want you can make further improvements by manually adjusting the temperature or other color parameters such as the brightness, contrast, hue, saturation, shadows, highlights, and more.

While manually adjusting the colors in a photo can take some experience, automatically correcting the white balance is a quick and easy way to improve business photos. It will depend on the photo editor that you use however, and for example Movavi Photo Editor has a ‘Magic Enhance’ tool to improve the color balance.

Apply Filters Consistently

Filters provide you with an easy way to alter the visual appearance of your business photos and stylize them. However they should be used with care, and you should be mindful not to over-use them.

As a rule it is best to pick out a couple of filters and apply them consistently to your business photos. Think of the filters as part of the visual branding of your business, and use them to ensure that your photos have the same visual appearance.

Generally it is best to use filters that make your business photos look brighter and more vivid – as that is more likely to engage viewers. The exact choices that are available to you will depend on the editor that you’re using however.

Conclusion

All in all you should be able to see that none of the methods described above are particularly difficult and yet each one will help you to improve your business photos by leaps and bounds. As you start to apply them, you will be able to develop a better understanding of the frame, composition, and colors – and the impact they have on your photos as well.

Although it may take a bit of time to familiarize yourself with the editor that you’re using and its tools – you now have a great place to start.
