Active Endpoints Announces ActiveVOS 9.0 and New Data Center Edition

Waltham, MA, June 23, 2011Active Endpoints, Inc., the process automation company, today announced the general availability of ActiveVOS 9.0 Enterprise Edition and a new Data Center Edition. These latest releases deliver a highly scalable and secure SOA-based business process management (BPM) system that supports multi-tenant virtual partitioning and resource sharing, multi-site clustering for large IT organizations to deploy private clouds and enables software-as-a-service (SaaS) providers to deploy more cost-effective public clouds.

IT organizations in large enterprises are looking for ways to provide their lines of business with support for multiple process applications as quickly and affordably as possible. Currently, IT has to purchase and dedicate software and hardware to develop and deploy each application. This is costly, hard to manage and adds more complexity to their infrastructure. These same challenges are true for SaaS providers that want to develop and deploy custom applications for multiple customers.

ActiveVOS Data Center Edition was developed to solve these challenges. The new multi-tenant architecture, which is only available in the new Data Center Edition, securely partitions ActiveVOS into discrete groups, reducing the management complexity and increasing hardware utilization of large installations. Each client organization (or tenant) shares resources, but has their own private and secure access to ActiveVOS functionality. ActiveVOS 9.0 Enterprise and Data Center Editions support multi-site clustering, providing seamless replication and scaling of business processes across multiple data centers and clouds.

“The new multi-tenant architecture provides the ability to separate and isolate the individual process groups, departments or projects on the same infrastructure and provide a better overall Quality of Service (QoS) and Total Cost of Ownership (TCO),” describes Oldrich Kotas, BPM Architect, Trask Solutions. “This capability would be highly appreciated by any operations officer.”

“The breadth and depth of ActiveVOS 9.0 are very impressive,” states Guerman Smirnov, Manager, Fulfillment Systems, AAPT. “This release continues to show that Active Endpoints has a deep understanding about how to give us the tools we need to increase IT productivity. This results not only in our ability to deliver high value process automation applications even more quickly and efficiently, but also improves interaction between IT and the rest of the business.”

“We’re looking forward to the new release of ActiveVOS which further improves the productivity of developers with visual aids and shortcuts and the capabilities of the runtime environment in areas of performance monitoring and process management,” says Josef Bajada, Senior Technical Architect, GO. “We’re pleased to see that with this release, even non-technical end users will be able to monitor the progress of individual process instances.”

Mark Taber, CEO, Active Endpoints, explains, “Private and public cloud adoption are clearly emerging trends with our Global 2000 and SaaS provider customers that want a highly scalable, secure and cost effective process automation platform. We made a significant R&D investment to develop the Data Center Edition to capitalize on this market need and leverage the power of ActiveVOS to simplify these more complex, large scale deployments.”

Additional feature highlights of ActiveVOS 9.0 Enterprise and Data Center Editions include:

  • Enhanced Process Designer – uses BPMN 2.0 modeling constructs and a new relationship view that highlights dependencies, BUnit code coverage reports and a brand new XQuery editor.
  • New Performance Dashboard – a single place to monitor server health, request performance and throughput, perform application tuning and identify resource and service bottlenecks.
  • New High Performance Dispatch Manager – makes transaction throughput more predictable by eliminating the slowdown that occurs when incoming traffic spikes unexpectedly.
  • New and Improved Standards Support – fully compliant with BPMN 2.0, XQuery 3.0 and XSLT 2.0 standards.
