Open source BI vendor Actuate Corp., has formed an alliance with KXEN, a provider of predictive analytics for business users, to help companies make better business decisions and operate more efficiently by deploying easy-to-use predictive analytics on petabytes of big data.

Combining ActuateOne’s open technology for merging and visualizing various big data sources, with KXEN’s automated predictive analytics capabilities will let companies create applications to support better business decisions by allowing users to visually analyze data, and discover new patterns.

ActuateOne is an integrated suite of standard and cloud software built around Eclipse’s  Business Intelligence and Reporting Tools (BIRT) project, which lets companies build data sets or data visualizations that combine big data with more traditional data from SQL XML, documents and flat files, according to Actuate senior vice president Nobby Akiha.

KXEN’s flagship product, InfiniteInsight, offers predictive modeling capabilities to business users and data scientists so they can have better insight into the behaviors of their customers as well as improve processes such as acquisition, cross-sell or retention in marketing automation, officials said.
