Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) integration enables enterprises to securely leverage existing authorization and authentication infrastructures, including SaaS configurations

ATLANTA – September 29, 2011 – AirWatch, a global leader and innovator in mobile security, mobile device management (MDM) and mobile application management (MAM), today announced that its Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) integration for mobile devices is now available for customers. SAML is an XML-based framework for exchanging user authentication and authorization data between security domains, enabling enterprises to make assertions regarding the identity, attributes and entitlements of an end-user to other entities such as an enterprise application. AirWatch leverages SAML to provide single sign-on capabilities for mobile devices and the AirWatch management console, allowing customers to use their existing authorization and authentication infrastructures, even when deploying AirWatch software in a SaaS configuration.

“Integrating SAML into our software solution is a major competitive differentiator for AirWatch,” said John Marshall, CEO, AirWatch. “Security and excellence in innovation are at the core of our mobile device management solution and SAML offers increased convenience and additional security with single sign-on for our customers’ fleets of mobile devices.”

Benefits to AirWatch’s innovative SAML integration include:

  • Risk Transference – SAML offers the ability to push management of identities to the identity provider, resulting in better capability alignments with enterprise business models.
  • Platform Neutrality – SAML extracts the security framework away from platform architectures and vendor implementations, making security independent of application logic.
  • Improved Online Experience – SAML enables single sign-on by allowing users to authenticate at an identity provider and then access service providers without additional authentication.
  • Directory Flexibility – SAML does not require user information to be maintained and synchronized between directories.
  • Return on Investment – SAML allows single acts of authentication to be reused multiple times across services, reducing the cost of account maintenance.

AirWatch helps organizations across a wide variety of industries deploy, secure, track and manage all their mobile assets. With AirWatch, corporate IT departments can streamline and automate the management of all corporate and employee-liable mobile devices; reduce the cost and effort of device deployments; and increase IT efficiencies and response times.
