Arcadia Solutions Partners with AppNeta to Identify and Improve EHR Application Performance within Ambulatory Practices

BURLINGTON, MA (May 14, 2013) — Arcadia Solutions, a leading provider of data-driven quality improvement solutions, today announced its partnership with AppNeta, the leading provider of Saas solutions for exceptional performance of business-critical applications. Utilizing AppNeta’s PathView Cloud solution, Arcadia Solutions’ Managed Services team can now identify and resolve performance issues that occur between the ambulatory practice and the Electronic Health Record (EHR) application.

“When EHR applications don’t perform well, it can rock an organization to its core. Frustrated clinicians and patients lead to decreased productivity and dissatisfaction, impacting adoption, and ultimately limiting the EHR’s ability to support better, more efficient patient care,” said Bob Dupuis, Director, Managed Services, Arcadia Solutions. “In an ambulatory setting, these performance issues escalate quickly and loudly to the top of the organization. With AppNeta, we’re able to resolve performance issues rapidly and enable our team to proactively manage the EHR infrastructure. By providing this proactive support we are able to increase physician satisfaction and adoption, resulting in more efficient use of the EHR and ultimately improved outcomes.”

Currently, Arcadia Solutions’ Managed Services team supports more than 500 providers across 250 locations ensuring that their EHR and supporting infrastructure performs well above industry standard Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Arcadia’s Managed Services provides support and proactive monitoring for all aspects of the EHR application and infrastructure. However, one of the most critical issues ambulatory practices face with the performance and availability of its EHRs is their network connection to the application. This can include business-based broadband services for a private cloud, a SaaS-based EHR or a direct network connection to the hospital data center where the EHR is hosted. The performance of this connection is highly impactful and can cause the EHR to work incorrectly.

By implementing AppNeta’s PathView Cloud service into its Managed Services portfolio, Arcadia can now provide practices with complete insight and analysis of application and network performance, improving end-user experience and satisfaction with the EHR. AppNeta’s integrated solutions for application and network performance enable Arcadia Solutions to quickly identify the root cause, whether it is the application or the network itself, and resolve all performance issues to resume the practice’s usage of the EHR.

“At Beth Israel Deaconess Care Organization, we partnered with Arcadia Solutions and its Managed Services team to build, manage and maintain an EHR private cloud in a co-location facility. Our EHR cloud is served to the practices via public Internet over SSL. However, for more than a year we were challenged with ISP availability and service level/stability. The biggest issue being that we couldn’t correctly identify the ISP as the actual culprit impacting performance. The lights were green but the application continued to freeze, crash or have very poor/slow response times,” said Bill Gillis, CIO, Beth Israel Deaconess Care Organization (BIDCO). “Being responsible for supporting more than 100 practice locations, it was critical that we get this resolved permanently. By bringing together Arcadia’s top quality support services with AppNeta’s secure cloud solution we have been able to quickly identify and resolve these types of performance issues. The performance data is stored in the cloud indefinitely, giving us a longitudinal view of the network/Internet connectivity, organized by practice, which can be accessed at any time. This solution saved us the cost of deploying a technician on-site, not to mention the continued disruption in patient care.”

“AppNeta has partnered with Arcadia Solutions to enable healthcare organizations to better understand and manage performance of critical applications like EHR,” said Jim Melvin, CEO, AppNeta. “It is important for healthcare organizations to have detailed performance visibility into key applications in real time and to assure predictable performance for doctors and staff across remote locations.”
