BATON ROUGE COMMUNITY COLLEGE SELECTS PROCESS DIRECTOR TO AUTOMATE BUSINESS PROCESSES

San Diego, CA – July 3, 2013 – BP Logix, a developer of BPM software that accelerates time-to-value, today announced that Baton Rouge Community College, the leading two-year institution in its region, has selected Process Director to update and streamline its business processes. Process Director is being used for automating processes within Human Resources and IT initially, with the expectation that other departments will then implement their own electronic forms and workflows. The community college’s initial processes are expected to go live by the end of August.

Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) is an open admissions, two-year post-secondary community college established in June, 1995. BRCC offers collegiate and career education for transfer to four-year colleges and universities, community education programs and services, lifelong learning, developmental education, distance learning, and workforce and continuing education programs. Student enrollment at the 60-acre campus includes more than 8,900 undergraduate students and 2,374 degree-seeking freshmen. BRCC employs 1,600 faculty and staff to support its students. Baton Rouge Community College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

Ron Solomon is the Chief Information Officer at Baton Rouge Community College. To address requests to automate processes from a number of departments across the college, including Admissions, HR, Administration and IT, Solomon formed a committee. It was comprised of the five Vice Chancellors, each representing a specific area of the school, the Chancellor and representatives from IT. The mission of the committee was to identify tools that would automate its core processes, while also integrating seamlessly with other third party applications and databases.

After conducting Google searches and reading articles, Solomon contacted five vendors to provide demonstrations to the committee. That led to short-listing two and the selection of BP Logix Process Director.

According to Solomon, “Our initial criteria was to not burden IT with designing, building and maintaining a solution – so ease of use was important. We wanted anyone to be able to put together a workflow and process. As importantly I wanted to push the responsibility back to the departments needing to produce the workflow. By doing so they will have ownership and can have the process do exactly what they want it to,” he remarked.

Solomon, the Chancellor and Vice Chancellors expect that automating its core processes will result in time savings. The idea that Process Director requires no coding, provides the ability to drag and drop and to reuse objects appealed to the department heads as well as IT. As they prepare to go live with their first processes, being able to provide electronic signatures and review all project milestones through the Process Timeline™ have added to the excitement of both the users and management.

“We appreciate the opportunity to address the needs of a dynamic organization like Baton Rouge Community College,” stated Jay O’Brien CEO of BP Logix. “The fact that they are developing their system with  users in mind makes it easy to reduce the learning curve and provide the time savings that customers like BRCC expect,” he concluded.
