Benefits of a Hosted Desktop for Your Business

If you don’t know what a hosted desktop is, you are not alone. A hosted desktop is a branch of cloud computing software that, according to Umbee Hosting:
“Hosted Desktops are the future. With ever increasing internet speeds, they are becoming the better option for companies looking for greater central control and minimum hardware requirements at the client’s site; as all of the hardware is taken care of in the Cloud.”
Here – in more detail – is how your business can benefit fromcloud hosted desktop software.
Remote Access
We’ll start with the big one, the major pull of hosted desktops (or DaaS, if you want to be specific and pedantic, but no one likes a pedant so shut up): the ability to access the desktop from any location. Once you migrate to the cloud, you can work from home exactly the same as working from your toilet, but without all the etiquette pressures of making people cups of tea and small talk about the weather and politics that no one knows anything about but pretend to be an expert in. Sounds like heaven, right?
Money, Money, Money
If that ease of access stuff didn’t get your motor running, then this one probably will. It is estimated by some that it can cost around £1750 per person, per year to manage a fixed desktop. With hosted desktops this is eliminated. I’m terrible at maths, but I’m sure you can work out how much you will save with that.
More Money, Money, Money
If you’re feeling really Scrooge-like today and want even bigger savings, then fine, I can comply. Desktop hosting – as with all cloud solutions – means you only pay for what you use; it’s a pay-as-you-go service that means you won’t be shelling out on unnecessary infrastructure like you probably are now, this means that coupled with the savings on the desktops, you will see your profits rise quite nicely.
Scalability
When you’re trying to up-scale or down-scale your business, there are often too many considerations to have to think about. One of these considerations is whether your IT infrastructure can handle a major upscale, or if you down-scale whether you’re wasting money on infrastructure you no longer use. With DaaS, it changes to suit your needs, so you can shoot up and down the scale as and when you want. This also allows smaller companies to compete with bigger companies when it comes to their technology.
Security
Finally, to accompany all the extra money and productivity you will be enjoying thanks to your hosted desktop, you will also find that it’s much more secure. All of your data and information that is stored on the cloud will be constantly backed up by your provider, meaning it’s safe and sound in a secret underground bunker … probably … although it’s likely just in a big warehouse in Slough or something. These warehouses (or datacentres as they prefer to be called) have all the physical security and fire protection you want which makes it a much better option than keeping it all in you businesses premises.
