3LM and BoxTone have announced a new strategic alliance to deliver a full lifecycle embedded security and management platform for Android mobile devices and applications.

The combination of 3LM’s solutions at the device level and its enterprise server console with BoxTone’s enterprise mobility management (EMM) platform provides Android devices and applications with enhanced security both on the device and over the air. By aligning 3LM’s solution with BoxTone, IT can secure, manage, and achieve the same levels of service and support for Android devices as they do for iOS and BlackBerry.

“We initially built the 3LM solution to answer strong user demand to rapidly deploy and secure Android OS-based devices,” Tom Moss, co-founder and CEO of 3LM, said in a statement. “By pairing our solution with BoxTone’s EMM platform, enterprises can realize more than just security; they can manage the full mobile lifecycle from a single unified platform. BoxTone brings the broad industry credentials, major installed base, multichannel distribution model and EMM platform for integrating the 3LM platform for full lifecycle enterprise mobility management for Android.”

“At BoxTone, our goal is to fully mobilize the enterprise quickly, securely and reliably, and our strategic alliance with 3LM enables us to further extend our support for Android, as we have for all major device platforms,” BoxTone CEO Alan Snyder said in a statement. “3LM’s deep Android experience, licenses with major Android handset manufacturers, and platform-level security and management controls give BoxTone the ability to secure and manage Android OS-enabled devices and applications as we’ve done for BlackBerry and iOS devices for years. Now enterprises can say yes to consistent, safe and reliable security and management for any devices operating on the major mobile platforms.”

The 3LM-BoxTone platform is being demonstrated this week at CTIA Enterprise & Applications 2011 in San Diego, Calif., and at the Gartner Symposium ITxpo 2011 being held October 16-20, 2011 in Orlando, Fla.
