Choosing a local PPC Agency?

January 13, 2016 No Comments

Featured article by Calvin Paige, IT Specialist

With Google constantly adapting their SERPS, which potentially impacts on the effectiveness of SEO, many more businesses are likely to be looking to add PPC (pay per click) advertising to their online strategies in 2016; that’s if they aren’t already doing so.

PPC Agencies Vs Doing it yourself

While setting up PPC campaigns is something you can do yourself and appears fairly easy from an operational perspective. Knowing how to implement the thousands of options available to you in adwords or how to properly lever the data to get the best return on investment, is something that is generally best left to the experts. If you do not have the time to fully research PPC techniques and stay ahead of the curve in terms of what works, your best option is always to engage the services of a specialised PPC agency.

However, with so many credible PPC agencies to choose from, you may find yourself wondering what to base your decision on. There are certainly advantages to choosing a company that is fairly close to you physically, and this may well be something you can factor into your choices, but is a local PPC agency always the best option?

Do you use a UK Based PPC agency?

You can, of course, find people who know how to manage PPC anywhere in the world; however it is strongly recommended to use an agency that is in the same country as you and your main customer base. If you are UK based then, you’ll find a UK company will have a better understanding of the UK PPC market, as well as your competition and target audience – even if you are aiming to promote your site globally.

As well as this, you’ll be working on the same time zone and in the same native language as your agency, so you’ll be able to work far more easily and effectively when you need to work on the project together.

How Local?

There really are no reasons to look outside of your own country especially if you are UK business as the UK is at the forefront of digital marketing globally. There are plenty of excellent UK PPC agencies like converted.co.uk (a Sheffield and London based specialist ppc agency), who you can enter into talks with before you decide who to use, so you can look at what options and strategy suits you best. However, should you look for a truly local PPC agency? One that is in the same city as you?

In actual fact, especially if you are London based, it can be financially more sensible to use a company that is based somewhere else. While you still get the advantages of your agency being UK centric, you are unlikely to need to meet with them in person on a very regular basis and so you can often save money by working with a company from outside of London who don’t have the same expensive overheads like London office space and can therefore operate more cheaply. Choosing a firm in a different strong UK business city like Sheffield for example can therefore help you get more from your marketing budget, while still being able to meet with them face to face where and when required without it being too difficult a trip for ppc agency staff.

When you are trying to identify a good PPC agency to work with, thinking local can help make the relationship easier and get you more insightful help. However, by considering the wider area within your country and region, you can potentially also save money and ensure you work with the best talent.
