City of Nashua, N.H. Adopts Multi-Application ERP Suite

Lawson Software  today announced that the City of Nashua, N.H., has selected Lawson for the multi-application deployment of the Lawson Human Resource Management, Enterprise Financial Management and Supply Chain Management suites. The deployment will also include user productivity tools Lawson Business Intelligence and Lawson Smart Office. These enterprise-wide applications will help the city improve information flow across several functional areas and help administrators make informed decisions quickly and more strategically. The contract was signed during the first quarter Lawson’s 2011 fiscal year, which ended Aug. 31, 2010.

The city of Nashua is home to more than 86,000 residents and has an annual budget of approximately $223 million. It has been named twice as ‘Money’ magazine’s “Best Place to Live in America.” In a continued effort to improve services for its residents, the city recently initiated the Nashua Government INnovation (NGIN) project, a multi-year effort to transform and modernize city government and provide a unified system of technologies, business processes and management. The Lawson solutions, which will replace the city’s aging legacy applications, make up the largest component of the NGIN.

“Deployment of the Lawson ERP system will help improve workflow efficiency, transparency and knowledge sharing city-wide,” said John Barker, IT director for the City of Nashua. “We chose Lawson because of the in-depth functionality of its solutions, its strong public sector experience and the company’s commitment to its customers.”

Specifically, the upgrade to Lawson will bring together core finance, procurement and HR applications, including:

Human Resource Management, which will help reduce the time, effort and expense city authorities need to spend on day-to-day administrative tasks. Enterprise Financial Management, which will help the city manage finance and budgeting processes with greater transparency, automate accounting systems and better forecast revenue and expenditures. Supply Chain Management, which will help improve supply chain visibility and operational cost control for procurement, resource allocation and capacity planning. Lawson Business Intelligence, which will help improve operational effectiveness and accountability by helping to simplify access to timely, accurate information. Lawson Smart Office, which will help enhance software user productivity by improving the information workspace for many users.

“Continued budgetary pressures at the federal, state and local levels have made efficient and informed operations management a top priority for government entities of all sizes,” said Brian Murphy, general manager, Public Sector for Lawson. “Authorities at the city of Nashua felt that their legacy technology infrastructure could no longer do the job. They invested in modern business applications to help further improve current and future service levels for city residents.”
