SAN FRANCISCO – December 13, 2018 – Crate.io, developer of CrateDB, a leading SQL data platform for real-time machine data and IoT applications, today announced it has earned Co-Sell Ready Status through the Microsoft One Commercial Partner (OCP) Program for its CrateDB Cloud for Azure IoT Solution. Named a “Cloud Enabler” in Microsoft’s 2017 Berlin Growth Accelerator, Crate.io now gains access into Microsoft’s network of reseller and channel partners for amplified opportunities and integration with targeted customers worldwide.

“Today’s announcement builds on a long history of close collaboration between Crate and Microsoft and supports our commitment to ensure that the Industry 4.0 transition goals of the world’s top manufacturers are met,” said Christian Lutz, CEO of Crate.io. “We look forward to working closely with Microsoft and its extensive ecosystem of global partners to ensure that our mutual customers are able to put their data to work.”

CrateDB is closely integrated with Microsoft Azure IoT Hub and lets users put data to work in real-time by providing time series monitoring capabilities while enabling data analytics on the extremely large, long-term, complex data sets seen in Industrial IoT. CrateDB Event Hubs Connector allows users to route data from Microsoft Azure IoT Hub or Event Hubs directly to CrateDB. This, combined with the database’s rapid ingest and highly-flexible time series queries, gives developers industrial-strength time series database capabilities on Microsoft Azure that are much more scalable and stronger than other alternatives. CrateDB Cloud extends the capabilities of Time Series Insights into large industrial use-cases.

“Crate.io is Alumni of Microsoft Scale Up and we eagerly welcome Crate.io to our network of Co-Sell Ready solution providers, and look forward to helping them accelerate adoption of CrateDB Cloud for Azure IoT,” said Iskender Dirik, MD Microsoft Scale Up Berlin. “Together Azure and Crate enable solutions for our customers and partners to rapidly adopt IoT solutions that save them time and money, increase safety and optimize efficiencies.”

The CrateDB is mainly used in large scale IIoT projects, for example for data driven manufacturing, where large amounts of data have to be captured, analysed and made available in a wide variety of formats in real time.

ALPLA, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of plastic packaging products for Henkel, Coca Cola, Unilever and other brands, is using the platform to ensure that its overall factory equipment effectiveness (OEE) is optimized. Alpla operates 180 factories globally and data from tens of thousands of sensors, with 900 different types per factory, is fed into the platform and allows data driven real time optimization across all factories connected. The real time detection of production problems enables the initiation of appropriate measures and advanced analytics allow prediction of trends.

“By using the Crate Machine Data Platform to collect and analyze sensor data from all our factory equipment in real time, we can actually direct people on the floor to the ‘hot spots’ and with that, improve the waste rate and efficiency of production, said Philipp Lehner, General Manager of ALPLA.

The Microsoft Co-Sell Program is a key benefits of attaining Gold status with Microsoft Go-To-Market Services. The Co-Sell Program connects companies with Microsoft’s global salesforce and resources to drive enterprise sales and engage with line-of-business leaders. In order to be eligible for the program, Crate.io submitted customer references and documentation to prove its competency and capability to provide top-notch enterprise solutions around the world.
