In addition to determining the right type of event to host yourself or attend as a guest in order to promote your business, you also need to know how to actually promote that event and the fact that you will be hosting or attending it. Social media is a key tool that you should be utilizing and incorporating into your events marketing strategy. Continue reading to learn how you can do so effectively and easily.

Use Event Hashtags

If you’re going to be hosting your very own event in order to put your business’s name out there, you can create your own hashtag that you can use on social media to generate a buzz about the event. But if you are going to be attending an event, such as a trade show, you can simply begin using the official hashtags associated with that particular event in order to make it known that you’ll be there.

So, for example, as you prepare to attend a trade show, you can research companies that are experienced in creating trade show displays so that you can have your own pop up trade show display created, and you can also begin marketing the fact that you will be in attendance by using hashtags on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. Be sure to be active in conversations about the event, and continue posting about the event even while you are there.

Use Social Media at the Event Itself

Again, once you’re at the event, continue using social media to stay connected not only with those in attendance, but also with those who aren’t in attendance but may be interested in stopping by, or who may regret being unable to attend and want to know what’s happening. Be sure to answer questions, comments, and complaints throughout the event.

Hashtags can come in especially handy here as well, and you can post plenty of photos and videos of yourself and your staff having fun at the event. And you can also encourage attendees to post photos and videos of themselves directly to your social media pages.

Prepare for Your Next Event

You can use the success of a previous event in order to market an upcoming event more successfully. Take all of the interaction that occurred via social media during your last event, including posts, videos, and photos of your staff and attendees, and compile everything into a really engaging and entertaining story about the event. Share this on social media and encourage your audience to interact and share it far and wide as well. The more people see what a fantastic event you were a part of or that you hosted in the past, the more they’ll want to attend the next one, whether they attended in the past or they missed out on it the first time around.

If you know how to use social media to promote an upcoming event, you can boost your marketing efforts and ensure that more people will attend the event and look for your business.
