Informatica Positioned in Leaders Quadrant in 2010 MDM of Customer Data Report

Informatica , the world’s number one independent leader in data integration software, today announced that it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the leaders quadrant in the 2010 Magic Quadrant for Master Data Management (MDM) of Customer Data report, published October 4, 2010.

John Radcliffe, author of the report states, “Vendors in the Leaders quadrant have strong results and delivery capabilities, and will continue to have them. They typically possess a large, satisfied customer base (relative to the size of the market) and enjoy high visibility in the market. The size and financial strength of the Leaders enable them to remain viable in a challenging economy. Leaders have mature offerings and track records of successful deployments, even in the most-challenging environments, across all geographies and in many vertical industries. Leaders have the strategic vision to address evolving client requirements; however, they’re not always the best choice.”

According to the report, “the ability to create, maintain and leverage a single, trusted, shareable version of customer master data is seen as an essential requirement in commercial and noncommercial organizations to support business processes and business intelligence (BI). However, most large enterprises have heterogeneous application and information management portfolios, with fragments of often inaccurate, incomplete and inconsistent data residing in various application silos. No comprehensive system contains the single view or is designed to manage the complete life cycle of the master data. The focus of this single view may be customers (including consumers, business customers and channel partners), products, suppliers, locations, assets, financial charts of account or other core entities of the enterprise. MDM is a technology-enabled discipline in which business and the IT organization work together to ensure the uniformity, accuracy, stewardship, semantic consistency and accountability of the enterprise’s official, shared master data assets.” The complete report, including the quadrant graphic, is available on the Informatica web site at http://www.informatica.com/mdm_mq/.

Informatica acquired Siperian in early 2010, a leader in the multidomain MDM technology category and integrated it into its Data Quality product division. With its accelerated MDM plans, Informatica surpassed other MDM vendors in the market by addressing the complete requirements of master data management lifecycle that includes data integration, data quality and data services.

Additional highlights of Informatica’s execution and strategic direction for its MDM and data quality products and solutions in the past year are also recognized in additional Gartner reports:

-- Informatica placed in the 2010 Gartner Product Management Magic
Quadrant1. Informatica was included based on its completeness of vision
and ability to execute in product master data.

-- The 2010 Gartner company profile, SWOT: Informatica, Data Integration
Tools, Worldwide. Gartner identifies Informatica's strengths,
      weaknesses, and threats around MDM.

“Informatica’s momentum in MDM validates the strength of our solution in enabling customers to derive significant business benefits,” said Ivan Chong, executive vice president, Informatica. “With a unified, coherent platform consisting of advanced data integration, data quality, and MDM capabilities, Informatica offers customers faster time to value and maximum flexibility to evolve and keep pace with business needs. As a market leader, Informatica delivers both a superior vision for MDM technology as well as a strong track record of execution.”
