Lawyers Smack Sony’s Hand as It Reaches for Hotz’s Hard Drive

Attorneys for hacker George Hotz swung back at Sony with a claim that the PlayStation 3 maker has no right to search Hotz’s computer hard drive for a Sony SDK. The system tinkerer has been battling Sony over the publication of PS3 encryption codes, and the case has sparked a debate concerning the extent to which companies can control what consumers do with their products.
