SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY: USES OF 3D MODELING

June 18, 2018 No Comments

Featured article by Anthony Riley, Independent Technology Author

How often do we face 3D visualization of objects in real life? It is used to create animated commercials, 3D interior layouts and exteriors, movies and computer games using 3D graphics. Visualization is indispensable where it is necessary to create a copy of an imaginary object.

The history of 3D visualization begins back in 1962, when a graduate student at the University of Utah, USA, creates a program that allows you to visualize the simplest 3D models. Later in this educational institution the world’s first department of computer graphics opens. The first animated film, titled Toy Story, completely made with the help of 3D graphics, came out in a few decades – in 1995. Many believed that the film was doomed to failure, but it happened to the exact opposite-the work earned world fame and recognition.

SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

In this area, 3D-visualization is used mainly for the design of technical products. Modern technology allows you to create a visualization of the projected object, as close to a real device as possible, to evaluate it visually. The three-dimensional model of the future mechanism accelerates and facilitates the work of the design engineer, saving him from the drafting process.

Often, customers need to think about the unusual design of household items. In this case, the visualization process helps to demonstrate the design solution.

ADVERTISING AND MARKETING

Favorite little animals, talking food or patterns, appearing on the walls of the advertised gadget in a few moments – all this is done to attract the attention of consumers. Increasingly, marketers use 3D-visualization of objects, creating animation commercials. Shooting in real conditions does not give such an attractive picture, as with the use of animation.

The advantages of using 3D visualization in advertising:

allows you to create fictional characters;

3D-object looks more attractive than in real life, better conveys necessary qualities of the proposed product;

allows you to create a ready-made layout of an advertising banner and see how it will look.

DESIGN OF INTERIOR, ARCHITECTURE, CONSTRUCTION

3D-visualization of an interior or a building with the use of computer programs is rather new, since earlier for this purpose models were made from cardboard or special materials. Today, 3D visualization of the house is an important stage before the start of construction work. This technology allows you to look at the finished object and make changes when necessary.

However, the role of visual layouts in the field of interior design and construction is not limited to the demonstration of the object to the staff of the architectural bureau. Three-dimensional visualization is used to create an advertisement for an interior or a building in order to acquaint consumers with a specific offer. Feature of advertising in the field of construction and architecture is that it offers something that does not yet exist. For example, the advertisement of the residential complex shows the result – the consumer sees the image of the finished buildings, while their building can only begin.

CINEMATOGRAPHY, COMPUTER GAMES, ANIMATION

In the cinematography and the gaming industry, 3D visualization has taken root and has taken root, apparently forever. It is difficult for a modern person to imagine his favorite game without three-dimensional characters, and the next film without 3D graphics.

The process of creating a visual model of an object in this sphere consists of several stages:

– Modeling – creation of 3D-objects.
– Texturing – applying textures to a three-dimensional model.
– Rigging – the creation of “virtual” bones, the skeleton of the future character.
– Animation is the “revival” of the 3D model.
– Rendering – reformatting the graphic model into a record.
– Compositing – inserting a character into a frame or scene, adding special effects, eliminating defects, etc.

3D-visualization is the process of creating a three-dimensional image, fictional or as close to reality as possible. The possibilities of this technology are unlimited – you can create objects of any shape and size, experiment with colors, change and transform. However, the main advantage of 3D visualization is that it allows you to create mockups of impressive images, amazing pictures and intricate characters that are born in the imagination of a person. However, creation of 3D models can be complicated with the lack of special skills, sometimes it’s much easier to use existing 3D models, for example it’s easy to find different 3D Models on Flatpyramid.com.
