One of the more frustrating things about software-as-a-service applications such as Salesforce.com is that it’s tough to make money selling these applications. But there has always been a significant opportunity in terms of integrating these applications with the rest of the enterprise.

Case in point is a new extension CEP Enable middleware from the iWay division of Information Builders Inc. (IBI). The new addition to the iWay complex event processing middleware lineup is designed to allow the Chatter social networking software that Salesforce.com recently rolled out to become the front end tool for kicking off various events across the enterprise.
