Go through magazines, articles, websites, and videos focusing on the growth of a company and you will find team management as a vital cog in making the company function smoothly and making it grow. A company must take care of its employees individually, and that is why HR systems are put into place. Though, it gets harder to focus on individuals in team when the output depends collectively and not individually. There is a need to focus on team management as a whole by taking care of individuals. If that doesn’t happen, team members will feel demotivated and it will ultimately lower the output they can put in. A data analyst can be heavily put to use here, here is how:

1. Capturing data of each team- While crunching numbers on the output of each team, the data analyst can ask teams to put in numbers individually as well. This will help categorize the output individually and figure out the best performers and the lowest ones. After it has been figured out, a company could try to figure out the reason behind low performance. The problems might vary and it could happen that the performers have concerns unheard by the company and might be feeling unappreciated. It can help the company resolve issues and get a team to rise up by increasing the outputs of each employee.

2. Analyzing the skills required to carry out a job- In a team, there are members with diverse range of experiences and skills gained in the past. One’s aptitude and differs from another’s. We cannot judge an elephant’s skill by asking it to fly; it might be that one’s strength and suite is not in the task which the company is asking him/her to do. If we analyze data on a variety of parameters, we can find out which job would be an employee best at. After that, we can ask the employee to work on which he/she will be able to make a difference, it will make the employee feel appreciated and eventually get him/her to give more to the team and company. For example while looking for writers and experts in edtech industry, one has to pass an exam that marks him/her as assignment expert.

3. Team management by managing the hierarchy- In corporate, you find all sort of people and teams at different positions working in varying styles. It might be that a leader is autocratic in nature and just wants the result from his/her teams. What this style lacks is focusing only on the output and not on the ways it is get done hampering quality of the work. It also piles up pressure on the teams to work harder and faster, often draining them out of physical and mental energy. Steve Jobs is said to be of the same nature, according to different articles and interviews of people he worked with. He did get the results but he was not favorably liked by his employees and they have said a few times that it made for a fearsome and unhappy environment even with the successful ventures one after another. There is a need to analyze the approach of people in a hierarchy through the parametric they set forward for judging the performances of employees. It will help the top-level management of a company review if the criteria are right and should be expected by teams across.

Team analytics- Bestonlineassignmenthelp, an online assignment help company, ran an ad on its website for College Essay Online. It did not do well and the company was unable to lure in any customer or reap any profits. It went for a while before the company realized there was internal miscommunication between the team members and they were not told to focus on the customers coming from that ad. With constant data churning and analysis, the management was able to find out the reason later and lure in customers later. Any management school emphasizes on the need to have concrete data and information before making any managerial decision. Data analysis is vital to any department in an organization and required to solve any problem the organization faces; right from hiring new employees from the source data has showed to be the best for recruitment to solving problems in managing a team.
