The Benefits of Print Management In The Healthcare Industry

Print management software has radically changed the process and the tasks within many different industries and one area where it is having a highly beneficial impact is the healthcare industry. Whilst a great number of clinics, surgeries and hospitals have switched to a more digital way of working, there is still a great need for printing within these healthcare settings. Providing solutions for this industry are highly focused companies such as Konica Minolta, which are able to provide a wealth of benefits to this sector and many more. The healthcare industry is greatly improved thanks to print management software in particular and these are just some of those benefits.

HIPAA Compliance

In 1996 the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act was brought in which added an extra layer to the requirements of healthcare providers in terms of protecting patient information and confidentiality. Now with the additional introduction of the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act, there is more emphasis than ever before on a healthcare provider’s ability to conform to this level of compliance, reducing waste, increasing patient security and reduce costs, and print management is the ideal way to ensure that.

Efficiency

Regardless of whether it is an A & E department printing patient wristbands, a small surgery compiling information or a member of hospital admin securely printing documents, efficiency is always going to be key. The healthcare system is not always the highest funded sector and that means that productivity is more important than in any other sector, because of how high the stakes are. Print management software is able to greatly increase this efficiency and ensure that professionals within this sector are able to spend their time on their patients, and not trying to operate the printer.

Track Printing

Given the importance of many of the documents which are printed within the healthcare sector it is absolutely essential that document are tracked in case anything goes missing, or indeed if there is confusion about where a document was printed, when, and by who. This aids in the compliance of regulations and it also helps to avoid errors which could be made. Document security is incredibly important within this industry and tracking provides a massive benefit.

Assessment

It is not possible to reduce something that you cannot measure and this is why the assessment which print management software delivers is another great benefit which it can provide to the healthcare sector. Once this software reviews the usage of printers throughout the hospital or clinic, management will be able to make better decisions on how they can go about reducing costs, speeding up tasks and minimizing wasted man hours. Without this level of data, such decisions would be made in the dark, and therefore attempted improvements may end up doing the complete opposite.

The healthcare industry relies heavily on print management software and as you can see from these benefits which it provides, it is a much better place because of it.
