Despite the widespread belief that IT issues are only associated with older, c-suite members of the workforce, research today by Vanson Bourne and Barco shows that more than two thirds (72 per cent) of IT decision makers claim Generation X and millennials ask for the most assistance.
The survey of 500 IT decision makers shows that the reason behind the need for IT support is a lack of digital savviness across the business.
The research showed that:
– Over 5 in 10 (56 per cent) IT respondents claim that the workforce isn’t digitally savvy enough to resolve IT problems themselves
– The majority (74%) of respondents say that employees ask for the most assistance with presentation technology
– 50 per cent say that presentation tech problems are mostly commonly reported due to external business hardware e.g. laptops, tablets, and mobile phones, brought into meeting rooms
– Ineffective presentation technology can have a detrimental impact on businesses, with 6 in 10 (60 per cent) reporting that these issues were associated to a loss of business and damage to business reputation
– As a way of overcoming presentation IT issues, six in 10 (66 per cent) IT decision makers believe that the deployment of technology that is quick and easy to set up is essential
