Things You Should Know Before Working with an IT Support Provider

Information Technology is a complicated realm for the average person to dabble in. You cannot simply take over the IT operations of your company in a fit of money-saving inspiration and expect everything to keep running smoothly. You definitely cannot learn how to manage your own company’s technicals overnight. That’s why it’s necessary to have someone more skilled and more knowledgeable do the work for you.

If you can’t afford to keep your current in-house IT team, you still have plenty of options if you’re willing to outsource. There are many IT support companies to choose from, each of which offers a plethora of packages and services, it can be overwhelming to choose among such a vast number. So, how exactly does do you choose the right one? Simple. You just have to know what you’re looking for…

Accreditations

It’s incredibly difficult to take anyone’s word, especially if these are people you’ve never even met prior. It’s not always easy to figure out what someone’s about, but that’s why you should care about accreditation. You want a guarantee that the people that you’re hiring are qualified and well-trained. There a lot of certifications in the IT industry, but these are 10 of the most important.

Location

Being in close proximity with your IT support company of choice is going to ensure that you have people whom you can rely on to come in and make physical repairs when necessary. You’ll be surprised at how many problems and repairs actually require some form of physical intervention. Being able to call upon a team that’s not only able to get to your location, but to get there quickly is a godsend, especially given the fact that some, if not most businesses, rely heavily on their IT infrastructure.

Response Time

It’s an incredibly stressful feeling when you’re helpless because you’re faced with an IT problem that you don’t understand. Response time is a big factor to consider, especially when system downtime also means that you’re losing potential profits. A simple way to check how a candidate responds is by looking at how they reply to your inquiries.

When a firm is quick on getting back to you, it shows how important their customers are to them. However, it has to be clarified that “response time” does not mean how quickly they’re going to solve your problem. It simply means how quickly they’re going to respond to you, and only then will they begin working on your IT problem.

If you have specialized or narrow needs for your IT support, you can find many in most metro areas that can cater to you. Choose a local company that does exactly what you need. For the London area you could engage an IT company such as Prosyn that doesn’t handle any other outsourcing but IT. If IT isn’t what you need, you can easily find more specific niches with a google search.

Company Size

Other factors to consider are both the size of your business and that of the company you want to work with. You have to strike a balance between the IT company’s resources and capabilities and whether or not you’re the type of business they like to cater to.

Big IT companies won’t always be the best for your business (especially when you have a small business) because then, you might not be given top priority. The opposite can be said if your business is considerably bigger than that of the IT support company. They might not have the capability to support your business.
