The 15th annual Urban Wheel Awards returned to the Sound Board MotorCity Casino Hotel on Sunday, heralding the phoenix-like recovery of the American auto industry and the ever-growing importance of green technology.

Randi Payton, president and CEO of Decisive Media, which puts on the event, said he had no doubt the auto industry would rebound. Payton’s optimism apparently is shared by many. On Friday, he was expecting the event to sell out. “The Sound Board has a 1,500 capacity,” he said.
