Raleigh, North Carolina – October 22, 2012inetwork, a division of Bandwidth and the leading choice for innovative and scalable voice, 9-1-1 and SMS solutions, today announced the launch of The Voice App Igniter, a developer challenge aimed at discovering the next disruptive voice and messaging application. The challenge targets developers creating the next groundbreaking ideas for scalable voice or messaging applications. inetwork will offer up to $600,000 in services to either a single or multiple developers based on the entries received.

“inetwork is proud to have worked with countless entrepreneurs and startups to deliver services that enable them to launch their solutions, helping organizations like Google, Pinger and Marchex become the leading providers they are today,” said Steve Leonard, executive vice president and general manager of inetwork.

Developers interested in the chance to jumpstart their voice and messaging applications are encouraged to visit The Voice App Igniter Tumblr site and submit a short video explaining their innovative way to use a phone number. Each video should address how the application could break new ground with access to up to one million phone numbers and unlimited calling capabilities. Submissions will be judged by a panel of industry experts and inetwork will help subsidize the winner’s launch by providing discounts on services of up to $600,000. Submissions are welcome beginning today through November 26, 2012. The winner will be announced on December 3, 2012.

“Today’s market is rife with talented developers poised to deliver the next solution that will dramatically shape one of the hottest areas in the industry as more users steer away from traditional solutions. But you can get bogged down in telecom’s weeds, or lack the guidance or funds to get a great idea off the ground,” added Leonard. “We are excited to engage developers looking to do more than just sell a dial tone and help fuel their passion to pioneer applications that drive new demand in this growth segment.”

To share your idea for The Voice App Igniter, visit The Voice App Igniter Tumblr site. Visitors are welcome to “like” their favorite ideas and share them within their social communities. For feedback and live updates, follow @OTT_Voice on Twitter, hashtag #AppIgnite600.

Terms and conditions apply.  See Contest Rules for more details.
