CompTIA Empowers IT Industry, Elevates Membership with New Open Access Model

San Diego, April 2, 2014 – CompTIA, the non-profit association for the IT industry, unveiled a new open access model that dramatically will change how businesses and individuals interact with, leverage and perceive CompTIA.

Announced during CompTIA’s Annual Members Meeting here this week, the new open access model marks a fundamental shift in the association’s 30-year membership strategy.

“The IT industry is changing rapidly, and channel partners, as well as IT professionals, business owners and consumers, are eager for real-world insights and resources that will help them make more informed decisions and offer guidance on the future of IT,” said Todd Thibodeaux, president and chief executive officer, CompTIA. “CompTIA is uniquely positioned to be that voice and resource, which is why we’re opening up the vault to registered users and introducing greater exclusivity and value for our members.”

Designed to advance the IT industry and help make channel partners more successful, CompTIA’s new open access model consists of three game-changing moves.

1.    A no-cost level of engagement called “registered user” that gives individuals access to select high-quality channel education, industry research, news and tools designed to help channel partners achieve their business goals.

2.    An enhanced and expanded membership tier called “premier member”, which is made available only to solution providers, vendors and distributors, and companies serving the IT channel. CompTIA premier members receive exclusive business tools and priority access to all of CompTIA’s research, training and education resources. All current CompTIA members automatically receive premier member status.

3.    A re-designed, mobile-friendly website that will go live in June 2014 and make it easy for registered users and CompTIA premier members to find what they’re looking for, engage with CompTIA and interact with others within the association.

“CompTIA’s new open access model and complementary digital platform will bring greater visibility, value and voice to CompTIA and our premier members, while empowering the IT industry with the knowledge and resources they want and need to be more successful,” said Nancy Hammervik, senior vice president, industry relations, CompTIA.
