LogiXML Helps Baker Tilly Revas Deliver Better Financial Decision Analysis to Their Clients

April 19, 2012 No Comments

McLean, Virginia – April 2, 2012LogiXML, the pioneer of web-based business intelligence (BI), today announced that Revas, the outsourcing arm of Baker Tilly, a leading international provider of accountancy and business advisory services, used LogiXML ‘s “Active Analytics” technology to embed actionable financial analytics into its Client Portal, and to power the innovation of financial applications. The move not only delivered better operational insight to Baker Tilly Revas clients, but also saves the company significant time in client ramp-up and implementation costs.

“The days of static reports, isolated tools, and restricted BI deployments are numbered. Companies now want immediate, accessible, and actionable analytics that correspond with the decisions that drive their businesses every day,” said Brett Jackson, CEO, LogiXML. “Baker Tilly Revas is a perfect example of how LogiXML’s Active Analytics technology makes data visualization a fully integrated part of the applications, portals, and devices used to execute on daily operational decisions.”

LogiXML’s Active Analytics technology is based on meeting four key functional criteria:

• Pervasive – it makes BI available on the technology people use such as mobile devices;
• Integrated – it allows information to be embedded into existing applications;
• Innovative – it allows IT to practice agile and iterative development to serve their end-users;
• Actionable – it lets users turn decisions into immediate operational actions;

“We needed to upgrade and enhance the Revas client portal with analytics applications that made client financial information actionable, and sought a solution that would allow us to integrate them on a wide variety of computing environments with minimum hassle. We selected LogiXML because it supports rapid implementations at a reasonable cost, and did not require extensive training for our developers,” said Kevin Dodson, associate director, Baker Tilly Processing Limited. “We found Logi Info’s development environment to be very intuitive and used it to facilitate the innovation of numerous applications.”

Using LogiXML’s Active Analytics technology, Revas revamped its Client Portal in less than 90 days, establishing a customizable, real-time dashboard with various key indicators and drill-down capabilities. Unlike former native reports on the portal, the new reports are driven with output from multiple data sources, providing more context and insight. The agility of the solution means that users can select from drop-downs and filters to dynamically display data directly from the financial system.

Previously, only members of Revas clients’ financial teams had access to the financial system. However, with LogiXML’s web-based delivery and intuitive dashboard styles, a much larger user group can now access the information and immediately take action without needing to be masters of the financial system.  Clients can also customize dashboards, making reporting more interactive.

“Because we used LogiXML to create a single analytics delivery environment, we no longer need to manage multiple reporting applications. With the old environment, the reporting framework and the report delivery software were two different applications and the link between them was tough to manage. None of the things we are doing now were possible with our previous platforms, and most of the new features were built in just days,” said Dodson.

Historically, Revas had support staff managing client passwords in multiple places on multiple third party applications, all manually. This was complicated by some of the applications requiring Active Directory authentication. The Logi Info framework now allows clients to manage their passwords. Using LogiXML’s Active Analytics technology, Revas assembled an innovative feature to quickly and securely change the passwords in all of the applications including Active Directory, improving Revas operations efficiencies.

“We also wanted documentation to be visible through the reports within the client portal. This was to overcome limitations where clients would want to see a document we had or vice versa. The use of LogiXML plug-ins, Web integration, and reporting enhancements meant that we were able to deliver this elegantly with little custom development on our part,” said Mr. Dodson.

In addition, Revas used the LogiXML Analysis Grid to provide clients with extensive data analysis capabilities in a single visual element. Revas clients can now analyze and query data in multiple ways without Revas having to provide custom reports. Using the Analysis Grid, Revas’ clients can view purchase ledger transactions, as well as drill down into images of uploaded documents and invoices via integration with barcoding technology.

Recently, LogiXML was positioned in the 2012 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence Platforms, where its products ranked among the highest for ease of use, overall product functionality, support, product quality, performance, and customer experience.
