State Street Recognized for Information Technology Accomplishments and Leadership

State Street Corporation (NYSE: STT), one of the world’s leading providers of financial services to institutional investors, announced today that it has been honored for its information technology achievements and leadership by several industry organizations and publications.

State Street’s IT team was recognized by Waters Magazine at the American Financial Technology Awards (AFTAs), by BCS, the Chartered Institute for IT and Computing Magazine at the UK IT Industry Awards and ranked third on Computerworld’s annual Top Green-IT Companies list.

“Securing these honors acknowledges the very talented and dedicated individuals that are part of State Street’s IT infrastructure organization who continually employ innovative thinking and new technology to ensure that our clients receive the best possible solutions,” said Chris Perretta, executive vice president and chief information officer at State Street. “At State Street, our approach to IT includes implementing new technologies to develop and deploy innovative new products.”

At the recent 2010 American Financial Technology Awards (AFTAs) in New York, State Street took top rankings in two categories, ‘Best IT Team’ and ‘Best Data Center Initiative.’ The sixth annual AFTA event is hosted by Waters magazine and recognizes financial companies for industry excellence and innovation in the deployment and management of financial information technology.

State Street was recognized in the ‘Best IT Team’ category for its Seamless Operations Strategy team that maintains State Street’s operations worldwide. The team uses industry best practices and new technologies to develop, test and implement solutions to meet application recovery requirements. State Street‘s 21st Century IT Infrastructure program won in the ‘Best Data Center Initiative’ category. This strategy helps State Street to leverage its IT infrastructure to respond quickly and cost-effectively to change, providing a foundation to support continued growth and a reliable, secure and efficient IT infrastructure environment.

State Street’s 21st Century IT Infrastructure program and new European data center were also recognized at the 2010 UK IT Industry Awards as a medallist in the Business Project of the Year category. The BCS & Computing UK IT Industry Awards provide a platform for the IT profession to celebrate best practice, innovation and excellence.

State Street also ranked on Computerworld’s annual Top Green-IT Companies list for the second consecutive year. Companies were selected for their efforts in using technology to create energy efficiency.
