At the center of information technology is a constant goal of finding more innovation and reaching new heights in what information can help the world with. Developing these innovative ideas can often be a thankless job that has entrepreneurs and innovators experiencing frustration. While there are some instances of finding success and reaching financial goals, many of these thinkers, dreamers, and planners are often left anonymous. Sometimes, however, these innovative minds are rewarded by their peers. Here are the top awards in information technology.

Webby Awards

Each year, the Webby Awards are doled out to the top companies producing incredible content online. The Webby Awards are presented by the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences. The judges seek new and exciting content in the form of digital advertisements, websites, mobile apps, social media campaigns, and more. There is also an award that is strictly nominated and voted for by the people, and many companies appreciate this recognition the most.

Ventana Research – Technology Innovation Awards

Another prestigious industry award is one sponsored by information technology giant, Ventana Research. Ventana awards companies and individuals in the IT industry with an annual recognition program. They focus on awarding organizations that have helped design innovative IT solutions for business. Recently, they have awarded honors to IBM, Pitney Bowes, Oracle, and Lithium.

PC Magazine’s Reader’s Choice Awards

Next, professionals in the IT industry want to most often please their customers and the general public. That’s why awards voted on by the people are so cherished. One award that is chosen by votes instead of a dim advisory committee is the PC Magazine’s Reader’s Choice Awards. This annual voting contest allows the most important people, actual users and consumers to nominate and recognize their favorite companies and products. The magazine’s awards issue focuses on technology hardware, such as desktop computers, smartphones, laptops, tablets, and gaming hardware.

Infoworld – Technology of the Year Awards

Infoworld is another publication that has an annual awards issue that helps recognize some of the leading ideas in the industry and the hardest workers. Each year, they recognize the technology of the year in a special issue. The award nominations and judging are decided by a group of journalists in the industry and IT experts. The magazine focuses on recognizing top efforts in hardware releases, software innovations, and other high-tech innovations.

National Center for Women and Information Technology Awards

The National Center for Women and Information Technology Awards program is designed to help promote more ideas and innovation from women. The IT industry has been dominated by men traditionally, and this organization seeks to change that and influence more women and girls to get into the field. Each year, the organization focuses on recognizing companies that promote and feature women in technology. The group has worked to help promote diversity among ideas and hiring practices.

Premier 100 in Technology – Computerworld

In recent years, Computerworld has also held its in-house awards program. This list of 100 premier groups in technology focuses on recognizing some of the key players for the future of the industry. Instead of specific companies, Computerworld zeroes in on individual leaders and innovators making strides in the world of information technology. Many of their past award recipients have gone on to create even more impressive successes.

Stevie Awards

The Stevie Awards are another highly prestigious program that many companies aim to be a part of. These awards primarily focus on excellence in business, and they often recognize a large number of information technology groups. The judging panel includes some of the top names across the board in business and technology, such as Peter Foyo, an executive and leader in the telecommunications industry.

The Deloitte Technology Fast 500

Deloitte, a big name in the IT industry, has its own awards program that recognizes the best and brightest. The Technology Fast 500 awards program aims to support innovative companies that are quickly climbing the ladder of success. The companies on the list all must be headquartered in North America and contributing to the future of technology, medical breakthroughs, and computing.

The Edison Awards

The Edison Awards, inspired by inventor Thomas Edison, have been naming top companies since 1987. The awards committee looks for new and exciting products that incorporate technology and innovation. This year, the committee has nominated companies offering products such as smart bras, baby formula mixing options, high-tech earbuds, battery chargers, and video cameras.

The Tech Awards

The last top award program around in the industry is brought to the public by the Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose, California. The program is simply called the Tech Awards and strives to recognize the big players and companies with the most potential in IT. The museum offers awards in the form of money for groups stretching the bounds of technology in fields such as education, health, and sustainable energy.

Getting recognized for doing what you love is a great motivator. Those in the IT industry can find more motivation when they are recognized for making great things even better with some of these opportunities for awards.
