When trying to manage a large office, business owners must make sure to use monitoring software on all computers, tablets, laptops and electronic devices. The monitoring software your company invests in will lead the accountability of business, and help keep track of what happens within your office. Furthermore, it’s important to look for a few things in monitoring software before you buy, and understand how it’s going to work in your office.

The Program Name

When you install monitoring software on office computers, the name of the software is important. You cannot put software on computers that calls attention to the program or have employee access the system. Monitoring software is not the same as advanced threat defense software, so don’t sell it to the employees as such.

Also, the monitoring software should not be alarming to employees and instead, look benign. Many employees would be uneasy if they felt they are being watched constantly. The reality is that your company wants to make sure everyone is productive.

The Style Of The Program

Every program works differently, and it’s important to get the information you want from the software. When installing these programs, you’ll see what sort of information you get back from the program. This takes just a few extra minutes, but tells everything you need to know about the program.

The Information

When you receive information from monitoring software, make sure to analyze it carefully. A monitoring program that tracks the keystrokes made by your employees will help to see what people are typing. However, it’s possible to get a long string of keystrokes that would be hard to discern. Every error and space bar stroke is going to be represented. This type of monitoring is not suggested unless the program can separate the keystrokes into text that can be easily read.

The information that most people get from monitoring software is what programs were accessed by employees. This includes which programs were opened in the computer, how long they were opened, which websites were accessed on the browser and employee messaging.

Intervals

When getting information from the system, take time to decide how frequently you want the information to come to you. This information can come every day, every hour or every week. It can be delivered by email or through the program.

You may want to consider having someone on staff who checks the information for you and work with that person every day. In addition, you can set up the system to only show your information, or give managers access to the information that comes in.

IT Issues

When IT issues arise, you can go through the information that comes in from your IT management software. IT staff can see if the computer was compromised in any way, and can pinpoint when a computer was put at risk. Also, work with employees so that they do not make these mistakes again.

Monitoring software for your business is crucial to controlling productivity during the day. This information will help determine who is acting properly at work and who is not. Monitoring software should not scare or alarm employees, but rather be present so owners can hold them accountable for what happens on their computers.
