The Benefits of Using an Industrial Computer

In many different industries such as medical, food and pharmaceutical, industrial computers are vital to help with everyday tasks that your standard computer just would not be able to do. Below, we are taking you through the many great benefits of using an industrial computer and why your business needs one.

Low Power Functionality

What makes industrial computers unique is that they have the very best and latest technology when it comes to low-power processor technology. This allows them to be streamlined, ensuring that power consumption is only kept to a minimum but does not compromise on its performance quality or its functionality.

Performance Efficiency

The reason why many businesses use rugged industrial computers is for their performance efficiency. These computers can have a single function and they can be optimised for a specific task that will help in the industry or a particular job role.

Longevity

What’s great about industrial computers is that while the regular life span of a standard computer is usually just a few years, for this type of computer it is anywhere from five to seven years. When you buy this type of computer, you know that it is one that is designed to last as they are specifically manufactured with long life chipsets.

Customisable Features

A general purpose computer has an array of basic functions and features that are designed to cater to the needs of the general public, however, an industrial computer is designed and used for very specific functions and there are two main functions that it will undergo. The first is data collection, while the second function is controlling and operating equipment through specialised software. The software can customise the unit and this is great as it can then accommodate the needs of any industry.

Durability

Many industries require industrial computers because they are incredibly durable. Many of these computers are used in factories and other environmental settings that are particularly harsh. While a standard computer has to be handled quite delicately, this is not the case with industrial computers and many industries use these if they are going to be handled roughly. They can withstand very severe conditions and will absorb any stationary shocks or falls. Furthermore, they also have a conformal coating of the motherboard which protects it from any moisture or dirt.

Reliability

Finally, one of the biggest benefits of investing in industrial computers is that they are extremely reliable. As we previously mentioned, the way in which they are designed makes them perfect in environments that will be exposed to harsh conditions and in these environments many people will be relying on them to complete their tasks without failing. Manufacturers will also take lots of extra spaces to ensure that they are reliable including adding watchdog timers, making sure that it won’t overheat and including an SSD for reliable and fast data storage.
