How to Optimize Your Pinterest Profile: 5 Tips

September 19, 2022 No Comments

by Amy Fischer

Pinterest is an incredible platform to help businesses drive traffic to their website, boost sales, and increase brand authority. As of now, it even ranks above Twitter and Reddit and boasts 431 million monthly active users, which can benefit your brand in endless ways possible.

That’s why many businesses work hard to quickly increase Pinterest followers and leverage all the benefits it offers. However, it’s not that hard to go viral on Pinterest using the right marketing strategies, since a repin from one user can make your account more discoverable.

Nevertheless, we will discuss five actionable tips in this article to help you optimize your Pinterest profile for vast opportunities. Read below to know!

Tip #1: Have a Business Account

If you don’t already have a Pinterest account, you must make sure you opt for a business account rather than a personal account from scratch. However, if you already have a Pinterest personal account, you can still switch to a business account in a breeze.

Having a business account allows you to create and run targeted ad campaigns and get valuable insights into your account through Pinterest Analytics, such as engagement, impressions, outbound clicks, etc. This will help you achieve your Pinterest marketing goals more efficiently.

Tip #2: Use Keywords in Your Profile Name and Bio

There’s no doubt that Pinterest is a visual search engine. Users on this platform come to search for inspiration and ideas. Using the most relevant keywords in your profile name and bio will allow Pinterest users relevant to your niche to discover your account and content and engage with it.

Therefore, you should research and use appropriate keywords that users type to search for an account similar to yours. Remember that Pinterest allows 65 characters for the profile name and 160 characters for the bio, so you should use them wisely.

For example, if you teach people to blog, your most relevant keywords may be “start a blog”, “drive blog traffic”, “blogging tips”, and “earn money”.

Tip #3: Add a CTA to Your Bio

CTAs are imperative to guide and encourage site visitors to take valuable action, which usually generates more profit for you. Hence, you should add a CTA in your bio with a relevant link to your website.

For instance, if you’re a clothing brand and just launched a new line of t-shirts, you can write “click here to buy t-shirts” with a product collection page link. If you’re looking for more email subscribers, your CTA may be something like “sign up today for a gift”.

Tip #4: Make Your Pins Visually-Appealing

To optimize your profile, you must not overlook the significance of aesthetically-pleasing pins. In other words, you should make sure that your pins stand out among the others when a user searches for a keyword.

Pinterest recommends an aspect ratio of 2:3, so you should adhere to this, as you don’t want your pins to be closely zoomed in or out. You should also place the text in your pins appropriately using a contrast of colors.

Tip #5: Use a Bright Photo of Yourself

It’s essential to use a clear, high-resolution picture of yourself with a smile for your Pinterest profile as it will give a more human touch to your account, and people will be able to better connect with you.

If you are a business, you should use your brand logo. Having the same logo on every social media account of yours will make your brand more recognizable and give you a professional look at the same time.
