Birst Leverages Amazon Redshift to Offer End-to-End Data Warehouse Capabilities

April 10, 2013 No Comments

San Francisco, CA, February 15, 2013 –

Birst Inc., the leading provider of agile business analytics, today announced it will leverage Amazon Redshift, a fast and powerful, fully managed, petabyte-scale data warehouse service in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud. Amazon Redshift is designed for developers or businesses that require the full features and capabilities of a relational data warehouse on large data sets. Birst provides a turnkey solution to build, manage, and analyze relational data warehouses. Birst is entirely architected for the Cloud, 100% multi-tenant, and runs natively on Amazon Web Services (AWS) without requiring expensive and slow cloud-to-cloud integration.

Birst is leveraging Amazon Redshift for its business analytics platform providing a full data warehouse automation solution. Birst’s proprietary data transformation technologies work with Amazon Redshift’s database power to the fullest. Based on an ELT (Extract, Load, and Transform) architecture, Birst is uniquely suited to build and manage Big Data sets in a relational database, manipulating data without moving it out or across the Cloud. With years of experience building and running hundreds of relational warehouses in the Cloud, Birst has shown that its unmatched architecture is unlike any other when managing Big Data. Unique to Birst, data moves at the speed of the database.

“We’re pleased to see Birst bring its end-to-end business analytics approach to our customers using Amazon Redshift,” said Terry Wise, Head of Worldwide Ecosystem, AWS. “Working together, our customers have great options to efficiently support very large data warehouses in the cloud.”

Unlike other Business Intelligence providers, Birst does more than simply connect to and query Amazon Redshift for presentation purposes. Birst goes further by including the entire data lifecycle to ensure customers can take any data and deliver production analytics with it—and does so leveraging the raw power of Amazon Redshift for data processing, maximizing speed, scale, and performance.

“Only Birst allows its customers to manage, manipulate and then analyze and present large volumes of data in the Cloud,” said Brad Peters, CEO and Co-Founder of Birst. “With today’s announcement, Birst is providing an end-to-end warehousing analytics solution whereby customers are able to get business results faster than ever before and the business benefits are immediate.”
