GoGrid and IBM Team up to Deliver Big Data in the Cloud

San Francisco, Calif. – August 2, 2012 – GoGrid, a leading cloud infrastructure company and IBM Business Partner, today announced that GoGrid Server Images with IBM’s BigInsightsTM and StreamsTM are now available to solve the Big Data requirements of independent software vendors (ISVs) and systems integrators (SIs). The integrated solution lets businesses build Big Data services on IBM-powered cloud applications on-demand and in minutes through flexible subscription plans.

These pre-built GoGrid Server Images with IBM’s BigInsights and Streams are designed specifically for businesses that need to analyze the large volumes of unstructured data associated with social media and other real-time internet services or to build Big Data applications based on Apache Hadoop.

“Solving today’s Big Data challenges requires cutting-edge software and infrastructure, and this business partnership brings together the best of both,” said Bruce Weed Program Director of Global Business Development for IBM. “GoGrid’s automated cloud infrastructure platform and IBM’s Big Data software work together to let businesses build software-as-a-service (SaaS) and platform-as-a-service (PaaS) applications to address their need to analyze vast amounts of information.”

With GoGrid’s unique billing and license management technology, IBM ISVs, and SIs can create solutions using multiple value-add applications and provide customers with a consolidated monthly invoice that includes GoGrid’s infrastructure, IBM’s BigInsights and Streams software, and any additional ISV license fees. This process lets ISVs deliver their software in the cloud, improve their end customer experience through fast, seamless deployment, and gain broad marketability across their user base community. GoGrid has signed an Application Specific Licensing (ASL) agreement with IBM.

“The new Big Data GoGrid Server Images are a great example of how GoGrid is lowering the barrier of entry for software providers interested in expanding their businesses with cloud solutions,” said John Keagy, founder and CEO, GoGrid. “Combining BigInsights and Streams with GoGrid’s innovative billing and licensing system opens up exciting new business opportunities. By offering trusted IBM solutions with the scalability and flexibility of a cloud-based business model, we help software companies better service the needs of their clients.”

The announcement marks the fourth and fifth pieces of IBM software available on the GoGrid platform through the GoGrid Exchange. Also available to ISVs are DB2, Informix, and InfoSphere Traceability Server. The GoGrid Exchange is a diverse marketplace of cloud solutions where partner-created images are sold, bought, or shared across the GoGrid community. The Exchange provides a simple process for cloud-enabling software companies’ existing software applications while also protecting their intellectual property. Customized partner images are listed in the Exchange catalog, allowing customers to browse and select software and solutions to include when provisioning their virtual machines. And because partner images can be provisioned in minutes, customers can significantly reduce the time needed to get new applications and solutions up and running in the cloud.
