Sears is using big data to help set prices – nearly in real time — and move inventory by giving loyalty shoppers customized coupons.

“We’re changing our company to be much more of a real-time digital enterprise,” said Phil Shelley, CTO of Sears Holding Company, Thursday at the Hadoop Summit conference in San Jose.
