How to Get More Bang for Your Business Buck

You will no doubt know the phrase ‘less is more,’ but do you apply this to your business? There are so many articles that recommend on how you can improve your business, that great suggestions can get swamped by the less effective methods. With the new year already in full swing, it is time to reflect about what has worked, and what has been less successful. It is easy to get distracted with what additional things need to be done to improve business, rather than reviewing what is on your plate already and can be improved upon.

First thing’s first. So that you can effectively drive your business forward, it is essential that you understand exactly where your business is at. Look at your expenditure and identify where you can save money. There will be aspects of your business that you have assumed are working to the best of their potential, but as you know, the business landscape changes frequently, and what may have been a good deal a year ago, may not be the best in the market today.

Utility Bills

Assess your business’s utility bills. You need to ensure that you are getting the best deal on the market. Use comparison websites to find more cost-effective suppliers. Rather than switching provider straightaway, contact your current provider and see whether they will match the cheaper rate you have found. While you may be regularly changing provider for your domestic utility providers, business owners often fail to apply this money-saving method to their workplace.

IT Infrastructure

The digital landscape changes at even a far greater pace than any other industry. Are you taking full advantage on what is on offer? You are now able to have public cloud hosting with guaranteed 100% uptime, secure fingertip controlled backup and disaster recovery services, all provided by one company so that risk to your company data is minimized. Check out theaccessgroup.com for more information. By having all your IT infrastructure under one umbrella, you can not only control your data more efficiently, but budget wiser too.

Delivery

If your business requires products to be delivered to customers or clients, when was the last time you reviewed your transport options? Whether you send parcels domestically or internationally, you need to review your costs. Depending on the number of parcels you send, a few extra dollars here and there can soon add up, and an increase will influence your customer’s preference for choosing your company over a competitor if your shipping costs have increased. Again, don’t be afraid to speak to the company you currently choose to negotiate a better deal!

It can be easy to focus on the more glamorous side of your business to move your business forward; however, this can be a false economy. If you are leaking money in the back-office side of your operations, you will not have adequate support or processes to move forward. Review your current providers and ensure that you are getting the best deal. Simplicity is key here; you want to streamline your business but not at the expense of efficiency.
